Joseph Harrison Snyder,  that's me in the slightly dated picture to the left.  I am a full time artist,  selling my paintings and prints of my paintings every Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 4 pm at Eastern Market on Capitol Hill -- 200 block of Seventh Street SE in Washington DC.   It is just north of Eastern Market Metro.  On weekends, I am usually to be found in tent a opposite Tunnicliff's Tavern on Seventh Street.

I live and work just a few blocks away.  The District of Columbia is my adopted home and the subject of much of my work.  As predictable as it may sound to say,  I really love this city.  Love it for its classical beauty and its unparalleled oddity, for its immense history and bewilderingly rapid changes,  for its fascinating collection of transient people and its proudly ensconced locals.   I think one of the highest callings of an artist is to document the community they are part of.  I make my stand here.

I do social and political commentary as well as painting the physical city.  If I had to say, I would say my most admired artist is Honore Daumier.   That is all that I have to say.  Its probably better for artist not to write too much.
